Journey to Getting Approvals: Facebook & WordPress Challenges

Our Journey to Getting Approvals: Facebook & WordPress Challenges with Tcalls

When we first started developing Tcalls, our goal was simple: to enhance website security by integrating WhatsApp-based authentication into WordPress forms. By the end of September 2024, we had completed the development of the Tcalls plugin, believing the hardest part was behind us. However, the real challenge was just beginning—getting the necessary approvals from both Facebook and the WordPress plugin library.

The Facebook Approval Process

Since Tcalls relies on WhatsApp messaging for OTP authentication, we needed permissions from Facebook to access their WhatsApp Business API. The approval process involved multiple steps, including:

  • Justifying how we use Facebook’s platform data.
  • Demonstrating that we comply with privacy policies and ethical data handling.
  • Providing video proof that Tcalls functions as intended.
  • Submitting detailed documentation on how Tcalls operates.

We submitted our responses multiple times, refining our explanations to clarify that Tcalls only uses the default message template with “Authentication” and “One-Time Passcode” features—without modification—to send OTPs. Our persistence paid off, and we successfully obtained the required permissions to integrate Tcalls with WhatsApp.

The WordPress Plugin Library Submission

Encouraged by our Facebook approval, we submitted Tcalls to the WordPress plugin library to make it accessible to a wider audience. However, we faced rejection due to WordPress’ strict plugin guidelines. The review team had concerns, and we are currently working through multiple trial submissions, making necessary adjustments to meet their standards.

Despite the hurdles, we remain committed to getting Tcalls listed in the WordPress plugin repository. Our goal is to provide a seamless, secure, and easy-to-use solution for website owners looking to enhance their form security with WhatsApp authentication.

What’s Next?

While awaiting WordPress approval, we continue to improve Tcalls based on feedback and ensure it aligns with industry best practices. We believe that persistence, transparency, and adaptability will ultimately lead to success.

For now, Tcalls remains available for direct installation from our website. We will keep pushing forward until we achieve full recognition from both WordPress and Facebook, bringing a robust security solution to users worldwide.

Stay tuned for updates as we navigate this journey!
